Sir William Glasgow (Australian High Commissioner) at the Canadian Club at Ottawa, stressed the importance of Australian industry in ly tilt Allied war effort. He pointed < out that Australia was almost self-suffi-cient in manufactures and she exports large quantities of manufactured goods. Destroyers, aircraft, anti-air-craft guns, machine-guns and radio equipment were among the commodities being manufactured. Tens of thousands of tons of steel were exported in various forms to Britain.
