RUGBY FOOTBALL
ATTRACTIVE FIXTURES. Old Boys and United are opposed in the main match on the Showgrounds oval on Saturday in the continuation of the Manawalu Rugby Union’s inter-chib competitions. llniled have improved greatly on their last year’s strength by comparison with the other teams, and their forwards have played a dominant part in the two matches they have already won. Old Boys, on the other hand, have been attempting to make the play open, so that opposing styles should make for an interesting encounter. The match is to commence at 3 p.m. At 1.30 p.m., on the oval. Air Force and Kia Toa are to meet. This also should be an interesting game and the possibilities are that more will be seen of the Air Force backs than has been the case to date.
At. the rear of the main stand Feilding and St. Patrick’s are to play at 3 p.m. Feilding have done well, but. St. Patrick’s have shown themselves as a battling side so that the travelling team should not have matters all their own way. At Feilding, Feilding Old Boys and University arc matched at 3 p.m. This will be the first appearance of the University side in Feilding this season.
