STEADY RESPONSE.

SICK AND AY 0 ENDED FUND. £2OOO AIAEK PASSED. The New Zealand Forces are not yet in action, says the local committee of the Sick, AVounded and Distress Fund, but they are in a vitally important sector, where the atmosphere is tense and a flare up imminent any moment. It cannot be left to the British Red Cross to shoulder the whole burden; nor can we wait till the casualty lists start coming in. Further donations to the fund are:—

Total to date .£2035 11 0 The response so far fium the business community is very satisfactory indeed, and as the campaign in JPalmerston North ends next week, an organised canvass of all businesses in and around the Square will be undertaken on Monday next. Donations sent'’ in meantime would assist the work of the committee. These may be posted to the lion, secretary, Red Cross Appeal Fund,. Rangitikei Street, or to Mr J. C. Young, P.U. Box 013.
