TRANSPORT OF PETROL.

. AIR FORCE REQUIREMENTS. Final advice as to how petrol is to bo transported to the Oliakca aerodrome was received by the Manawatu County Council at its monthly meeting this week. Recently the council was informed that, instead of being transported on the council’s tramway, petrol was to be conveyed bv motorlorry. In view of the petrol restrictions, and the fact that- money Dad been spent on tlie tramway in anticipation of this business, representations had been made to the authorities by the chairman (Cr W. E. Barber). The Commissioner of Transport advised, in regard to the transport of petrol and other items to the Ohakea aerodrome, that lie had been in touch with the Air Department and bad found that the whole question had been carefully considered. The decision liad been reached that road transport (in place of the council’s tramway) was to bo utilised. The writer did not propose to take further action.
