(From Our Own Correspondent.) KAIRANGA, May 13. Tho Kairunga Bubby Calf Pool held its first annual general meeting recently, I, when Mr C. Newman presided. Conway, \v. Mills, 11, Green, C. M. Hyde, and R. JVcvell. At the recent householders meeting to elect the School Committee Mr H. ICilgour presided over a small attendance. Tho chairmans icport stated“l have to congratulate the members of the committee and tho staff on the support they have given me during the past two years. Tho funds at the end of the year showed a credit balance of £ll 9s Id in the general account and £43 14s in tho special account. The committee express their appreciation to the ladies’ committee for the help in raising , funds for the benefit of tho children. Tho iron fenco betweeu the hall and the school has been completed and should make the children s playing area much warmer. Bars have

been crocted and should prove beneficial to tho children in tho way of exercise. Owing to tho windmill on the county council’s property ajoining the school not being sufficient to supply enough water, the committee had a boro put down sufficient to supply a pump, which tho hoard supplied. Tho school has been remodelled, which should prove very beneficial to the children’s health. Swimming .baths have also been erected at a cost of £llO, half of which was granted by tho Education Board. Unfortunately the baths were not ready till late in tho season and therefore the children have not been able.to take full advantage of tliem, but with weather conditions more favourable next season tho children will be able to have many onjoyablo swims. The senior inspector’s report is most satisfactory and the environment of the school is commended Arbor Day was observed by the children and trees and shrubs planted. The Boys’ arid Girls’ Calf Club shows great promise, there being a record number of calves, heifers and lambs entered in these competitions. IVc also express thanks to Mr Cummins and Miss Lyons for the way they have worked for the children; also for tho interest shown when competing with other schools in all games and the success achieved. ’.-The grounds and the gardens have been well kept. The roll number of 53 has been well maintained and parents are to be congratulated on their children’s attendance and the interest taken.” Mr Kilgour, the retiring chairman, was accorded a vote of thanks for his work in the past two years. There were seven nominations for a committee of five and the following were elected: Messrs O. Collis (chairman), G. Collis (secretary and treasurer), G. Davev, A. Diveliall and L. Clark.
