RECRUITS FAREWELLED. At a farewell to recruits given by Mesdames M. Paget and 0. Kershaw on luesday the guests of honour were Messrs J. T. Young. S. G. Olson, P. jNoary, W. M. Kershaw, N. E. Pcarcey, G. J. Vile. J. A. Ward, C. R. Harvey, H. Keltic, A. P. Kerl'ison, E. Sargent and M. Cosford. Ihe timo was spent in dancing to music sup- . plied bv Mrs \V. 11. March, Miss J. Kcr»ha\V and Messrs S. G. Olscn, I. Hanford, i and C. F. Garlick. Mr W. Paddy acted as 1 M.C A Monte Carlo was won by Mr 1 P M. Lusk and Miss P. Bush. Songs by t Mr N Wilton to the. accompaniment ot 8 liia guitar and Mr Ken Hicks on the accordeon wore received well. Messrs i. - Paget and D. Piper wished the recruits - the" best of hick and musical honours were heartily given. Mr J. A. Ward thanked ' Ihe speakers for their remarks, and Mcs- '.'_ dames Paget and Kershaw for organising the farewell. BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION. At a meeting of the Bush Basketball Association Mrs L. T. The junior , competition was suspended owing to the ils small number of teams entered, and it s. was decided to form a r.ew senior team 'id the Ng.iwnpurua-Woodville district. Mr J. G. Chambers consented to act as timekeeper again and was aeccrded a vote of thanks for his services. RUGBY FOOTBALL. A welcome was exO. tended the band by Rev A. A. Armstrong, sb who deputised fcr the Mayer-(Mr S. At the conclusion of tie concert, and bazaar, at which over > 'filOO was taken, Mr Armstrong thanked -'•all who had assisted.
