SPECIAL SALE OF DAILY HEIFERS.
Dalgcly and Co., Ltd., in conjunction with the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co., Lid., report having held on Tuesday on account Mr Charles Hall, at Longburn, one of the most successful sales of heifers held in the Manawalu district for many years. There was a large and representative gathering of buyers from the Waikato and surrounding districts who were keenly interested in this outstanding line of heifers. The heifers, which had been specially selected from some of the best, herds in the Taranalci, Marton and Mannwatu districts, came forward in wonderful condition, the majority showing up well in calf.-Com-petition was animated from tho commencement' of the auction, and excellent prices were obtained for early calving heifers. The top price obtained was for a pen of four beautifully bred heifers which realised £ls 15s; several other pens making from £ll to £l3 10s; the whole offering of 313 head averaged tho good price of £lO 4s per head. It was noticeable that the enquiry for the late calving he-'fers, was quiet, this class selling from £7 to £8 10s. Mr Hall’s two house cows, which Were due to calve in July and August, also commanded keen attention, soiling at £l3 10s a head. The following is tho range of-prices: Two house cows, July and August ealvers. £l3 10s; early calving heifers, £9 10=. £9 35s £lO. £lO 10s. £ll, £ll 10s. £ll 15s. £32, £l2 10s. £l2 IPs, £33. £l3 ss. £l3 10s. £l4. £ls 15s; late calving li-ifcrs £7 £7 ss, £7 10s, £B, £3 7s 6d, £3 10s.
