12.5 AKITIO HACK AND HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE, of £200; second £4O and third £2O. About two miles and a
This should be an interesting race. Bcgorrah jumped well early in the season to, win several races, but failed to show his bent in hie last hurdle races at Hawke’s Bay. Red Sun won’ at Taranaki in March and was twice fourth in the steeplechases at Ilawera. Chat, rehandicappcd to topweight, won the OtakL Steeplechase easily, and Master Hector was second. RED SUN CHAT BEGORRAH 12.40 TtUAHINE HACK HANDICAP, of £150; second horse.£2o and third £ls. hex
Several recent winners will appear in this race, in which there arc sonic promising ■ performers. Proclamation, the top-weight, had had lour wins this season and several plaeings. Sceptre has run very consistently in recent starts, and. won at the last Awapiini meeting. Military Maid and Parlato were both easy winners at Otaki, and the latter, on the minimum hero, may stand a good chance. Kupatrid also has recent good form and Buccaneer won at Ne.soii. The following may bo supported;— MILITARY MAID PARLATO SCEPTRE 1.25 RANGITIRA HURDLES, of £250; second horse £SO and third £25. One mile and three-quarters.

Curie lias some good past performances, but with Soho and Dungarvan, may need more races. Kaiwaka is a promising hurdler who cannot be overlooked. Attention will be paid to Hunting Lore, who has been a model of consistency and unlucky not to win. He lias a long string of plaeings. Ruling Star, War Lap, Bisquit, and El Mcyncll have all winning form over hurdles, the latter at Otaki. There is some good class among the 10 acceptors. Classform, with 9.8, will carry a stono more than when-she completed a double at the last Awapuni meeting, but still must have an excellent chance. Most of the other starters are likely to provide strong opposition. Old Surrey, second to Classform at Awapuni. is still ori practically the same terms .with her in weight. Du Maurier by his win at Otaki showed that he is back at his best, and Tidowaiter ran an excellent race there. Quadroon should also be improved bv his Otaki run. Aurora’s Star and Mataroa worn third at Otaki and are capable of better things. Favouritism may rest between : _.TIDEWAITER > OLD SURREY MATAROA. 2.45 MANGAWIIATA HANDICAP, of £175; second horse £35 and third £ls. One mile and a furlong.
Young Charles, although penalised here, wen so convincingly at Otaki that liis chances must receive attention. Titter was second to him at Otaki and should again make a good showing. Alunga has failed to get in the money since she won at Ilawera recently, but has been racing prominently. . Rakahanga lias been showing some good sprint form ' recently, Sleeveless, Gay Chou, Red Cat, and Gold Ballad' are others with good credentials. Gold Chase, who has a lightweight’s chance, won among the hacks at tile last Awapuni meeting. A trio to command support are : V RAKAHANGA ALUNGA SLEEVELESS 4.5 RAUICAWA HACK HANDICAP, of £175; second £35 and third £ls. Seven- furlongs.

Counter has been showing very consistent form and lias had a succession of minor plaeings. Colibri and Moradabad have chances and Golden Enterprise, Master Solway. Debrotts, Last Acre, and Sir Musket made fair showings at Otaki. Authoress performed well at Hawke s Bay. The favourite may come from: INDIAN SUN COUNTER AUTHORESS
