SQUADRON’S WORK. BOMBING IN NORWAY. , Received May 15, 9 a.m. LONDON, May 14. ; Although the New ZeaJanU Squadron of the R.A.F. Bomber Command has been operating* only two months, it has already laid the foundations for a fine record. It has participated in the attacks on the aerodromes at Stavanger (Norway) and Aalborg (Denmark). One ’plane flew over 20U0 miles from the north of Scotland to Narvik and up the Norwegian coast in the war's longest reconnaissance flight. The squadron, also twice reconnoitred NorthWest Germany. The official report specially mentioned the excellent navigation of the New Zealanders. In the Stavanger and Aalborg attacks the New Zealanders encountered heavy fire from the ground batteries. AH returned safely with no casualties. In these operations the squadron s spirit was excellent. The commanding officer said: “After months of training the crews arc most pleased to get off the mark and have a crack against the enemy.” ALLIES, attiuu NARVIK. MORE TROOPS LANDED. Received Mav 15, 10.5 a.m. LONDON, May 14. The War Ministry states that the Allies successfully landed troops seven miles north of Narvik behind the German positions, which other Allied units simultaneously attacked.
