STATE THEATRE. “SHIPYARD SALLY.” . Gangway for Grade! For when Grade sings, she puts a song over like no one else can. Starred with her in the 20tl. Century-Fox release is Sydney Howard, while prominent in the cast is the engaging young Oliver Wakefield, British comedian, who * recently won fame on the American radio with, his “double-talk.” -Meet tho happy newlyweds who found love in an office but lost it when they moved in that liLtle rose-covered cottage and wore swamped by the high cost ot “Society” living! They are Stuart Erwin and Marjorie Weaver, typical American couple of “Tho Honeymoon’s Over,” 20th Century-Fox comedy which shows today at the State Theatre. It’s a sure-fire, down-to-earth comedy that’s crammed full of incidents, experiences and adventures that might happen to anyone or his neighbour in Blariklown. Told in a fastpaced, modern manner, this true-to-life tale presents tile Todds as a misguided young couple who live beyond their means and provides more hilarious fun than many a comedy seen here in many weeks. As a struggling young advertising nian who gets further into trouble by trying to extricate Jiis wife from her innocent financial jams, Stuart Erwin, master of the bewildered grin, has one of : fclio most humanly funny roles of his career. KOSY THEATRE. “EVERYBODY’S DOING IT.” A high speed romance, unfolded in the heat of a nation-wide advertising contest that gets out of control, forms the theme of “Everybody’s Doing It,” RKO Radio’s d°w offering’ with Preston Foster and Sally Filers in the starring roles. Based on the current rage for puzzle contests, the film reveals in lively fashion what happens when racketeers, decide to profit by various features .of a contest originated to sell a breakfast food product. One of tlie crooks decides to kidnap the artist who draws the puzzles, and the other evolves his own racket of selling answers to tl.e public, and their respective schemes clash. Foster and Miss Filers have the romantic leads as commercial artists in the breakfast food company’s advertising Department, who perfect the idea for the contest. The two favourites are excellently cast as a pugnacious pair cf lovers. With many of the'scenes filmed in a large advertising office, the inner workings of advertising campaigns and the painting of advertising posters is revealed for perhaps tlie first time on the screen. Supporting the stars is a notable group of players. , “Lily of Laguna,” starring Nora Swinburne, 'Richard Amloy, and John Payne’s Negro Choir, tolls a grand romantic story of Ireland, set Jo the lovely traditional music ot Eire
