WORK AT AWAPUNI. FEW FAST GALLOPS. (B.v “Spectator.”) The course proper was closed at Awapuni this morning, and horses were exercised on the inside grass and hurdle track. Most of those engaged at the Manawatu meeting to-morrow were restricted to light exercise and there were few fast gallops, those , being mainly sprints. Few jumpers were in action. HAWKE’S BAY HORSES. A very fair, display of jumping was given by Dozie Boy (Sheild) when working at Hastings yesterday, for the Awapuni meeting. He went once round the course. Proclamation and Authoress were associated in a six furlongs which occupied 1.18, the first three taking 39scc. Authoress finished in front.
Blue Tiger and Trailer were companions in a working gallop over seven furlongs in 1.39. HUMOUR SCRATCHED. Humour was scratched at 1.30 p.m. yesterday for the Rangitane Plate at the Awapuni meeting.
