WOMEN’S INSTITUTES.
AIANAAYATU FEDERATION. The newly elected executive of the Alanawatu Federation of Women’s Institutes met yesterday at the Y.AV.C.A.. Aliss AI. Grant presided and also present were: —Alesdames AYaring 'Taylor and J. Easton (Shannon), T. D. Lynch (Linton), D. Scott (Aokautere), W. AlcClelland (Ivairanga), E. Dymock (Milson), AAh A. Churchill, H. V. Haverhill and T. E. Collins (Rongotea); also Airs F. C. AlcKay (Rongotea), voluntary organiser. Tho president welcomed the executive, particularly mentioning Alesdames Dymock and AlcClelland, new members. Alesdames Tajdor and Lynch were re-elected vice-presidents and tho following sub-committees were set up : —Finance, the officers; handcrafts and show displays, Alesdames AYaring Taylor (convener), E. Dymock and AA r . AlcClelland; drama, Alesdames D. Scoit (convener), AV. Churchill and T. Lynch; co-ordinating committee, the president, secretary and treasurer; organising, the president (convener) and executive; badges, Airs Easton; panel of lecturers and demonstrators. Airs AYaring Taylor. Alesdames Taylor, Lynch and AlcKay were recommended as voluntary organisers. Arrangements were begun for the annual festival of drama, to include glee-singing if possible. A test piece is to be chosen. It was resolved to ask Airs Victor Lloyd *o adjudicate for the pi avs and Airs Sandilands the g'ees. Alattcrs in connection with the show display were discussed. The treasurer (Airs Caverhill) reported having received the following affiliation fees:—Kelvin Grove, 9s; Rongotea, £3 6s; Carnarvon, £1 13s; Aokautere, £2; aha 10s donation to Dominion from Rongotea. . Appreciation wa<- expressed of the arrangements made by Foxton Institute for the annual meeting. It was decided to follow up the lead given bv Dr. Platts Mills at the council meeting and to consult with her as to how best to set about instruction.
