ANTI-AIRCRAFT GUNS.
AUSTR ALI AN MANILA CTURE. MELBOURNE, May 13. The first of two Australian-made anti-aircraft guns were handed to the Army authorities at the Maribyrnong ordnance factory by the Assistant Minister of Supply (Air H. Fadden). These 3.Tin. guns, which- arc of the type most used by the British Army-, have'barrels 25 feet long. “from now on. the Australian aerial defences will steadily receive a great number of these powerful guns, hut I hope they will never be needed for the defence, of our shores,” said Mr Fadden. Accepting the sruns, Major-General Sir Briidnel] White, (Chief of, the General'Ktaff), said: “The sooner you turn’these .two'into 200 the happier we of the forces will lie.” Mi- faclden'. added that the guns were 'entirely. Australian made, some of 'the tools', required, costing £IO.OOO each. The first two guns were completed iii ten month's after the drawings were]received, from England.
