WAITUNA WEST.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WAITUNA, May 10. At the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute, Mrs E. E. Pearce presided. It was decided to take a “box course” in smocking, Mrs Stokes to be in charge of the box for discussion. Mrs J. England was elected assistant demonstrator. The monthly competition for a soldier’s balaclava was won by Mrs T. D. Stokes 1. Mrs E G. England 2 and 3; best flower in the garden, Mrs A. E. Shannon 1 and 3, Mrs M. England 2. The hostesses were Mrs Johnson and Mrs Stokes. Next month the competitions will bo for an eggless ginger cake and the best flower from the garden. The hostesses will be Mrs Pearce and Miss Sowerby. Mrs Dustin, of Wanganui, is the ;Aiest of Mrs Callus. Messrs G. and K. England have left on a tour of the South Island. Mrs Langstonc, of Wellington, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs It Keith.
