PAHIATUA.
PERSONAL. ■ Mrs Butcher, of Mastcrton, is visiting Pahiatua and is staying with her son, Mr 11. W. Butcher, of Tyndall Street. A number of friends of Messrs P. Neary and R. Maddox were present at a social evening held in honour of the two men who are shortly to enter cainp. Each guest of honour was presented with an engraved fountain pen by Mr Sandman, and a toast proposed by Mr Sandman was enthusiastically honoured. Musical items were rendered by Messrs A. Mills and 11. Watts.

At a meeting of the Pahiatua Druids’ Lodge, Bro. R. C. Wolland, A.D., presided. An invitation to participate in an -indoor bowls tournament at Palmerston North, was left in P.D.P. Bro. Cosford’s hands. Arrangements arc being made to hand over a lodge diploma to the parents of an officer who has joined the Forces and gone overseas.
