OBITUARY.
MRS A. E. MANNING. Old residents of Palmerston North will learn with regret of the death at Wellington, on Wednesday, of Mrs Anne Elizabeth Manning, widow of the late Sergeant Manning, who as a member of the Police Force was stationed at. Palmerston North and Bulls in the early days. Mrs Manning, who had attained the advanced age of 96 years, had been in indifferent health for some time past, and was not able to leave her bed. Prior to suffering a severe illness a while ago she was most active in spite of her years and took an interest in everyday affairs. Surviving Mrs Manning are her daughter, Mrs Remington, with whom she had lived for a long time past, and five sons—Messrs Edwin,- Fox, Harry, Frank and Charles Manning. The late Mr J. F. Manning; who for many years was bailiff at the Palmerston North Magistrate’s Court and prominent in Rugby administration, was a son of the' deceased lady. Another son was Mr A. E, Manning, who passed away in Australia several years ago when visiting there with a New Zealand hockey team, a pastime in which lie took a very keen interest.
