RACES AT AWAPUNI.

GOOD ACCEPTANCES. MANAWATU WINTER MEETING. The Manawatu Racing .Club has received particularly good acceptances .. for the first day of its winter meeting, to bo held on Thursday and Saturday next. In practically all events there have been very few withdrawals since tho handicaps were announced. There are now 10 horses left in the Winter Cup, withdrawals being the topweight, Amigo, who would have had .to carry 10.3, and Rehearsal and Might, two lightweights. The topweighls remain in tho Rangitira Hurdles, and with 12 starters this should provide an excellent race, as should the Aldtio Hack and Hunters’ Steeples. In the open sprint only two horses,' Clessamor and Sea Link, have not accepted The hack events arc all well supported, and there is an acceptance for the maiden race of 26 horses out of 30 nominated.
