The removal of lengths of railing from Battersea Park is the first move since the outbreak of the war towards the utilisation of London’s unnecessary, metal for steel manufacture. An expert pointed out that railings fro in a small square alone would provide enough metal for a sizeable ship or for 12 tanks.
