EXISTENCE AT STAKE.

JAPANESE CONCERN. OUTCOME OF THE AVAR. Received May 10. 10.10' a.m. TOKIO, May 9. The AY or Minister (General S. Ilata) warned the gubernatorial conference that it was impossible to predict the outcome of the world war and it was unlikely the world crisis would be soon dispelled. The situation abroad and at home was so serious that Japan’s national existence was at stake. Therefore, national efforts must be redoubled in order to fulfil Japan’s divine destiny. The Premier (Admiral Yonai) on May 2 reaffirmed Japan’s non-involvsment in the European war. He said Japan was determined to act independently to cope with developments arising from the war or the general international situation. Admiral Yonai added that many difficulties at home and abroad would be encountered before Japan would obtain her objectives which necessitated the lengthy maintenance of general mobilisation.
