SPECULATION RIFE.

- POSSIBLE CHANGES. (From Daventry.) “There is certainly a feeling that big things are going on,” stated a commentator in referring to the political situation in England. London is buzzing with speculation and various deductions are being made from the rumours that are current. However, there is one firm fact—that Mr Chamberlain had a full day of consultations. Big reconstructions or other momentous changes are freely discussed. There is a good deal of uninformed talk about possible successors to Mr Chamberlain, the names most freely mentioned in London being those of Lord Halifax and 'Mr . Churchill. It is still not clear what course the Labour Party will take. They declined to take part in a government headed by Mr Chamberlain, and it is not known whether they would also decline to participate in one headed by Lord Halifax or Mr Churchill.
