EXTRACTS FROM "STANDARD,” MAY 10, 1910. It was reported that the Levin water supply was to be tested to ascertain whether it could be extended to Foxton-. ,•. . King George, had been proclaimed King of Great Britain and Ireland and the Dominions overseas, stated a London cablegram. The Foxton Borough Council at its meeting had decided to establish a municipal coal depot. As an expression of their sorrow in the death of the King, several Maori chiefs from the Rotorua district called upon Hon. T: Mackenzie, who was visiting that town ,and asked him to convey their sympathy to the Government. ' - . A -message from London stated that the White ■ Star steamers .were being fitted with wireless telegraphy.'
