OFFER TO HUNGARY.
BRITISH ASSISTANCE. LONDON, May 9. Tile Budapest correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says diplomatic circles reveal that the British Minister (Mr 0. St. C. O’Malley) requested a declaration of the Hungarian attitude in the event of Germany sending troops through Hungary. It is reported that Mr O’Malley offered the . Prime Minister (Count l'eleki) British military and aerial support if Hungary resisted. Count Tel eh i replied that Hungary’s attitude would be dictated by circumstances. A Belgrade report says that the Yugoslav Deputy-Premier (Dr Y. Matchek) eonferred with the Italian Minister. It is believed that their conversation concerned the reported Italian troop concentrations on the Yugoslav borders. ' From Sofia it is stated that _ the British Ambassador to Turkey, (Sir H. Knatchbull-Hugessen) has left Sofia after a week’s conference with the Bulgarian Cabinet.
