LONG DISTANCE FLIGHT.
NEW ZEALAND PILOT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 8. The flight-lieutenant in command of the ’plane mentioned in the cablegram to-day which, with an all-New Zealand crew, flew from Scotland to Narvik and back, is believed to be FlightLieutenant A. A. N. Breckon', eldest son of Mr A. N. Breckon, of Northcote, and a member of the Royal Air Force New Zealand Bomber Squadron. Born at Northcote 20 years ago, Flight-Lieutenant Breckon was -educated at Northcote primary and junior high schools and Mount Albert Grammar School Peiore joining the staff of the New Zealand Heralu as a photographer. He learned to fly at Aiangere, his instructor being the late Squadron-Leader Allan. He qualified for his B (commercial) license and went to England about five years ago to join tire Royal Air Force! After farther training lie was posted to the No. 10 Heavy Bomber Squadron, and on two occasions he acted as adjutant of the squadron which is famous for its record in the Great War. ' . . Flight-Lieutenant Breckon participated in the last Royal Air Force display at Hendon, shortly before the outbreak of war. Last September ho was transferred from the Royal - Air Force to the Royal New Zealand Air Force, being one of the pilots chosen to fly to New Zealand one of 30 Vickers' Wellington bombers ordered -by the Government. Both-pilots and crew were placed at the disposal of the Royal Air Force at the outbreak of war,* however, and Flight-Lieutenant Breckon has since been engaged in duties with the squadron. His younger brother, Leading-Aircrafts-man Breckon, is a pilot in training with'the Royal New Zealand Air Force at New Plymouth.
