CONVOY ATTACK.

BRITISH SUBMARINE. TORPEDOES FIND MARK. LONDON, April 25. The fright - which sent a convoy of about 100 German troopships and supply ships scattering ior their lives was described by a member of the crew of the British submarine Triton. Coming up from bottom into the middle of the convoy, the submarine got in four hits with torpedoes before the convoying destroyers spotted her and forced her to dive again. “After sighting the convoy,” said the member of the crew, “the Triton dived. The captain counted the minutes, then brought the periscope to the surface. “It was a masterpiece of calculation, The leading German destroyer had passed over us, and the submarine was ‘among the sheep.’ “It would have done your heart good to see it,” he continued. “It was like knocking down ‘Aunt Sallies.’ We sent a torpedo and took a ship beautifully. She sank almost immediately

“The attack caused consternation among the Germans, and the convoy broke up, but other torpedoes hit. The second caught and sank a second ship, another damaged a third ship 60 badly that she had to be abandoned, and a fourth ship was crippled. “Destroyers pursued us and their ‘strafe’ lasted an. hour. Depth charges exploded around us while we played cards.”

While the Triton was on her, way home the crew heard on the wireless that the Royal Air Force had dispersed the rest of the convoy.
