WILD TALK’S RECORD.
SUCCESS IN TIMARU CUP. GOOD STONYHURST MARE. (By “Spectator.”) Wild Talk, who is raced for the Estate of the late Sir Charles Clifford and who won the T'imaru Cup very convincingly, is probably the best run re to' come from the Stonyhurst Stud since Fast Passage. Wild Talk, who is four-years-old, has not done a great deal of racing to date. She has shown impressive form, however, and it would not be surprising if she went on to still greater successes, after her Timaru Cup win and her second to Disdain in the Amberley Handicap on Saturday.
It was not until the end of her two-year-old season that Wild Talk was (list raced. After an outing at the Westport meeting held at Riccarton she won without effort the Maiden Stakes at the Christchurch Hunt meeting. She followed this up with another win in the Cashmere Plate at the Grand National meeting. When in the following season Wild Talk won the Silvcrstream Handicap at Trenthani, worth £245 to the winner, the total of her first prize stakes readied £505, and raised her from hack company. However, her connections must have made a miscalculation, for she ran in several more hack races alid in the Autumn Plate at Riccarton and Petone Hack Handicap at Trentham won £lls in stake money. Wild Talk has raced only in open company this season, scoring wins in the Crcssy and Sockburn Handicaps at Riccarton and in the Timaru Clip, and being second in the Amberley Handicap. In .her three other starts she was fourth in the C.J.C. Epsom Handicap, close up in the Thompson Handicap and badly left in the Templeton Handicap at Riccarton.
