CANARY AND CAGE BIRD NOTES.

Tin Palmerston North Canary and Budgerigar Club is to he congratulated on the sustained interest shown in the young bird shows which they have staged. This year’s event augurs well for the future and should stimulate attention on the premier event which is coming soon. The strong novice section and the outside entries indicate the progress being made. As reported, earlier, there were outstanding birds of real quality in the show on Saturday and competition at the big fixture should he keen. At the National (Red Cross) Exhibition in London there were classes for talking budgerigars which aroused great interest. There were also humming birds, the only birds which can fly backwards, doing this form of flight quite frequently ns when feeding from specially designed bottles.
