WORK AT AWAPUNI. PREPARATIONS FOR OTAKI. (By “Spectator.”) Tho course proper was open for fast work at Awapuni this morning and had dried considerably since Tuesday. The flags were about 25ft out. Several horses were given their final gallops for the Otaki-iUaori meeting. Fairly heavy rain set in later, after- a light drizzle. ICincora and a companion were sent over four furlongs, - and covered tho distance in Msec. Gay Jean also worked over four furlongs with a companion. Sporting Gift was sent alone, over five furlongs, completing the distanco in 1.8, the last lour furlongs in 56sec. Quadroon’s task was a short gallop. He was sent over three furlongs and completed the distanco in 40sec. lie is in excellent order at present. Colonel Bogey and Aurora’s Star were on terms at the end of a mile run in 1.52. Clarion Call was given a long gallop and was not asked for pace. He did the last six furlongs in 1.35. Old Surrey was also galloped on the track, five furlongs taking him 1.13.

Inform, with a companion, was also sent over five furlongs and tins distance took 1.11.

Thrasos, Renascor and Don Quex were companions over seven furlongs. They finished on terms, Thrasos coming up to be level. The last six furlongs took 1.26. Jumna, a two-year-old irom L. Wilson’s stable, was given a gallop over three furlongs and did tho distance in 43sec. She is a very big youngster. Hunting Lore was sent over the hurdles, and, getting in rather close, touched one, but bis display was good. Great Quex also jumped in good style. Aurora’s Ixivo and King Mestor were companions over three flights of hurdles and are making satisfactory progress. DIVISION AT OIAKI. The Maiden Race at Otaki is to bo divided and will be run as two separate races.
