FINANCES DESPERATE. BRISBANE. May 6. At aggregate meetings held to-day the Queensland coalminers voted overwhelminglv in favour of returning to work. Tlie’ir financial position was described as desperate. . The secretary of the local union (Air A. Phillips) tokl -his fellow miners that the Miners’ Federation, whose headquarters are in Sydney, was banknipt. They owed £7500 on the second instalment of New South "Wales food dockets, and were committed for £II,OOO on other dockets for their miners, and they had borrowed £20,000 which they were hound to pay back.
