BADMINTON

MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. ' ! That play this season might be slightly curtailed was advice received by the Manawatu Badminton Association, at its annual meeting, from the New Zealand Badminton Federation. Because of import restrictions and the desire of the Government to conserve its overseas funds, the stocks of shuttles in New Zealand were rather limited, the federation advised, and it appealed to all clubs under its jurisdiction to conserve supplies of these. The president (Mr P. B. Davidson) presided at the meeting, which was held on Saturday evening. Because of petrol restrictions it was decided to hold over intcr-club matches in the meantime. A motion was carried to the effect that the association communicate with the New Zealand Federation asking it to use its influence with the military authorities to see if it would be possible for the Woodville and Dannevirke Clubs to be permitted to use the drill halls in those towns at least once weekly.

The election of officers resulted : President, Mr P. B. Davidson; vice-presi-dents, Dr K. Dean, president of the Palmerston North Club, and Mr J. Packer, president of the Feilding Club: secretary and treasurer, Mr J. T. McDonald; committee, Messrs G. Darragh, W. Jensen, G. Simon and Miss Crist, with power to add; delegates to New Zealand Federation. Messrs W. McKay and J. T. McDonald.
