Mr R. C. Te Punga, wlio lias graduated Bachelor of Arts, received his degree at the Victoria College capping ceremony on Friday. Mrs T. Williamson is a Feilding visitor to Wellington. Two sons of Mr and Mrs A. H. Allen, of Denbigh Street, have joined the ltoyal Navy. Mr Gordon Allen, the elder brother, expects to leave for Devonport next Thursday, and Mr Jack Allen will proceed later. Miss Kathleen Batchelar, daughter of Mrs D. E. Batchelar, of Kiwitea, who was a debutante at the Marsden School annual dance in Wellington, on Friday, wore a frock of white emlxissed stiffened chiffon over white taffeta, cut on fitting lines. The skirt was very full with a bustle bow at the back. Mrs Batchelar’s :frock was of black sheer, patterned .with white flowers, and she wore a Russian squirrel cape. The friends of Mr and Mrs W. 0. Digby, of Apiti, will learn with regret of the passing of their daughter, Miss Edna Digby at the Palmerston North Public Hospital on Thursday last, after a long illness. Born ait Apiti, the deceased lady spent her life in the district, where she was educated and was associated with the .Methodist Church. Besides.her parents, there are 'four sisters, Mesdames Bielski, of Rangiwahia, and Patterson,"' of Apiti, and Misses Gwen and Coral Digby, rfnd one brother, Herbert Digby. to whom the sympathy of a wide circle of friends has been ex- j tended.
