WOODVILLE & DISTRICT
COUNTY COUNCIL. MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting * of the Woodville County Council Mr A. T. Hall, in a letter; drew the council's attention to the danger to children riding to school that existed at a had corner on McCurdie’s Hill. As an instance, the writer mentioned a recent mishap at the locality which might easily have proved fatal and expressed the hope that the council would take action in the matter. — Cr Galloway asked that the subject be referred to the engineer for investigation, and this was done. It was resolved that all outstanding rates be. placed in the hands of the county solicitor for collection. Mr Galloway brought up the matter of. difficulties experienced in driving cattle through the Manawatu Gorge. The Cull Drive Association, he said, sent large numbers of stock through the Gorge and at times had had trouble through stock getting off the road and becoming lost. He asked if the council could do anything in the matter, and suggested that fencing the road would obviate the trouble. Tlie chairman stated that tlie road was under the jurisdiction of the Main Highways Board, but the council might be able to assist by writing to the board requesting it to have something done in the matter. A motion on these lines was moved by Cr Morgan and seconded by Cr Galloway, but after some further discussion on the advisability of writing to the Highways Board, it was agreed that no action be taken.
