SAINTS CANONISED.

VATICAN CEREMONY.. VATICAN CITY, May 2. The Pope created the first two saints since his elevation to the Holy See in a brilliant canonisation ceremony. They were, the French nun Marie Pelletier, founder of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, and a humble Italian, girl, Gemma Galgani, famed for marks corresponding with Christ’s wounds. Sister Pelletier was born in 1796 and died in 1868. Sister Galgani was born in 1878 and died in .1903. She was reported to have had heavenly visions “and marks on her side, hands and forehead from which blood oozed.”
