PERSONAL.

Hon. P. Fraser (Prime Minister) will leave Wellington for Auckland tomorrow night. Among those who received their degrees at the Victoria College capping ceremony, last night, was Mr Evan Rockel, a former pupil of the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, who has graduated Bachelor of Laws.

Lieutenant-Commissioner and Mrs Evan Smith, of the Salvation Army, arrived in Palmerston North by motorcar to-day. They are accompanied by Major J. H. Nelson, Divisional Commander for the Wellington' Province, and Captain Waite, of the War Cry staff. Commissioner and Mrs Smith are the guests of Mr and Mrs L. Jackson, Argyle Avenue. Advice has been received that PilotOfficer J. M. Gilmer, of New Plymouth, who was reported to have been dangerously injured, in air operations on active service, succumbed to his injuries the following day. Aged 23, Pilot-Officer Gilmer, who first took up teaching, later joined the Public Trust Office and was on the Wellington staff when he joined the Royal Air Force. —Press Association.

The personnel ,of the Tasman Air Commission lias been announced by the Prime Minister. The commission is to consist of Sir Harry Batterbee (High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand), Captain E. C. Johnston (Assistant Director-Gen-eral of Civil Aviation in Australia), and Mr J. G. Young (Director-Gen-eral of the Post and Telegraph Department in New Zealand). The Public Trust Office announces the following staff changes : Mr 'G. W. Scott, district accountant at Invercargill, appointed assistant-account-ant at Wellington in succession to the late Mr S. A. Trezise; Mr J. W. Hinchey, district accountant at Timaru, appointed district accountant at Invercargill; Mr E. S. Brialey, district accountant at Napier, appointed district accountant at Timaru; Mr T A. Hannah, district accountant at Hastings, appointed district accountant at Napier; Mr W. H.
