(From Our Own Correspondent.) SHANNON, April 3. At the Borough Council meeting on Tuesday evening advice was received from the secretary of the New Zealand Libraries’ Association that Miss G.. J. Carncll would shortly be visiting as many as possible of the member libraries of the association, and Shannon is to be included in her itinerary, the date suggested being June 18. The Deputy- Valuer-General forwarded a schedule of objections. to revised valuations in the borough; three objections were received. Cr Lind, chairman of the works committee, reported that the priming work in Stafford Street had been completed. It had been carried out with the council’s plant and he paid a compliment to the borough foreman for the capable handling of the job. It will be two or three months before the final coat is given. Attention is to be given to the priming work completed some months ago in Plimmer Terraco, and both these sections will be completed at the same time.

Mr ami Mrs R. J. Law have returned from a holiday enent in the Sounds. Mr and Mrs A. R. Blackwood intend, making a trio to Sydney this month to visit their daughter, Mrs Collier. Mr and Mrs H. Warnian, of Wellington, have been visiting Mr Warman’fi parents, Mr and Mrs H. Warnian, Stout Street. Mr W. P. Harpin', stationmaster, who has been on sick leave for some weeks, has resumed his duties. Mr and Mrs Beaumont, of Wellington, are visiting Mr ami Mrs F. Thurston. Mr Ivan Havre, son of Mr R. Hayes, is a member of the Second Kcholon and his brother James left with the First Fell el on. Mrs J. A. Roach and Mrs .T. Roach have been in Auckland seeing Lieutenant W. Roach, and will later visit Matamata. Mr and Mrs |T. Pansina are Spending a few days with ■Mrs Pausinn’s parents, Mr and Airs W. l Aloynihan, before taking up their residence in Wellington.
