GENEROUS GIFT.
Per Press Association. HAMILTON, May 2. An offer that there would he. £SOO available in London tor the use of the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment, New Zealand Artillery, if the unit proceeded at any time to the Empire capital was made yesterday by Mr E. W. Burley, of Hamilton, to Captain AY. Knox, Officer Commanding the regiment. In addition, Mr Burley handed . Captain Knox £2O for the canteen fund of the regiment for use on the journey, overseas. Mr Burley said the offer had been made as an appreciation to Captain Knox, who served in the Great AVar_ and to .volunteers of the unit. Mr Burley is a well-known Hamilton philanthropist; Eoi many years he lias donated £IOO annually to the AVaikato Returned Soldiers’ Association and he has made many larger gifts to various public bodies.
