Undeterred by the war and the general international turmoil. Captain. Alfred Charles llussen intends walking round the world. He left Auckland on March 13 and after tramping through i the Dominion he proposes to continue his leisurely journey to South America, the Far East and Europe. In a statement at Palmerston North, which he reached yesterday, Captain Eussen said lie fought : in the South African, Zulu and Great War, at the latter 1 with the Australians. He was wounded in the Great War and afterwards went to New Guinea. Stating that he averages 20 miles a day, Captain Russen looks very fit for his sixty years. He disdains. “lifts” but is not on a time, limit. He carries an album in which j are inscribed the autographs of the | mayors of all cities and-towns-visited.
