(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANDON, May 2. There was a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the Sandon sub-branch of the Plunkct Society, which was presided over by Mrs Rex McKelvie. Apologies for absence were received from Alesdames A. C. AtcCorkindale (Fcilding)., W. E. Ptarce, F. S. Collier, O. C. Ellerm, B. S. Lavvrence and G. Goldfinch. The president said she was pleased to be able to report that the finances of the branch were in a sound position, the year concluding with a credit of £52 Is sd. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: Patroness, Mrs E. A. Pervert; president, Mrs C. Kaye; vice-presidents, Mcsdames F. S. Collier, G. Goldfinch, and J. Bowatcr; committee, Mcsdames Rex McKelvie, O. C. Ellerm, J. Currie, B. S. Lawrence, J. C. Scott, C. B. Tostcvin and H. Knight; hon. secretary-treasurer, Mrs T. A. Adams; hon. auditor, Mr S. L. Orr; advisory board, Messrs W. E. Pearce (chairman), B. S. Lawrence and H. V. Bond; delegate to Feilding branch, Mcsdames C. Kaye and T. A. Adams. The report presented by the president stated inter alia: “I have much pleasure in reporting a very successful year, entirely due to the splendid, co-operation displayed by our committee. The public gave very generous help in our - money-rais-ing effort which took the form of a ball. From this a. substantial credit was added to our Post Office account, thus enabling us to give a donation to the parent branch’s car fund. Our special thanks are duo to Mr Kaye and Mr H. A. Pearce for competition prizes.. The work among the mothers and babies has gone steadily ahead, although changes in the nursing staff have caused some rearrangements. We deeply regret that during the year we have lost our dearly loved chairman of our advisory board, Air John Perrett, and extend our deepest sympathy to his widow and our patroneess, Airs Perrett. Ever since the sub-branch’s inception _ Air Perrett took a leading part in furthering the society’s aims in every way.” The annual report of the Plunket nurse stated, inter alia; “Visits to the rooms bv adults totalled SO, babies 79, children 23, making a total of 182; visits to homes 7, and the number of new babies born- in the district total B._ The babies are all progressing satisfactorily. On Wednesday evening Airs E. A., Perrett,. of “Candown,” entertained a large number of young people and friends at a bridge party in honour of Air Jack Frcck-linc-ton who leaves next week to join the Air Force. Mrs Perrett received her guests wearing a frock of black velvet, while Alisa D Perrett wore ninon with clover trimmings. Airs Perrett. congratulated Air Frccklington on the step lie had taken, and on behalf of those present 'wished him a liappv time and, a safe return. The party was entertained by Air J. B. Bradley, who gave a resume of his recent trip abroad, which was illustrated per medium of the cinematograph, a number of the films being coloured. Aiusical honours for Air I'recklington were given.
