' PERSONAL. Mr A. Rusden, of Mangatainoka, has returned from a visit to Wellington, where she was the guest of Mr and Mrs J. McKelvey. Messrs A. Kerrison and M. Reichenbach have returned to Mangatainoka after having been the guests of Mr and Mrs L. Logan, of Brooklyn, Wellington. VITAL STATISTICS. The following vital • statistics for April, together with comparative figures for April. 1939, in parentheses have been supplied by the Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages (Mr W. F. Cobb): Births, 9 (9); deaths, 1 (3); marriages, 6 (4). PRESENTATION FUND. The following are recent donations • to the Pahiatua Borough Fund for presentations to recruits: Previously acknowledged, £69 Ss 6d ; Mr E. P. Badger, 10s: Mrs Ridley, Mr E. Beckett, fas each: Miss C. McKenny, Messrs A. C. Timms, D. Brabner, junr., T. W. Watts, T. McKenny, R. Hannah and Co., Miss E. McKenny, Mrs E. Ryan, Sisters Levy and Struthers, Anonymous. Mrs Upstun, Mrs Dawson. Mrs G. Jones, Mrs Griffiths, Mr M. Griffiths, 5s each; total, £74 9s 6d. The Pahiatua Red Cross has received donations of £l4 16s 2d from the Regent Theatre, and £2 from the Euchre Club. LADIES’ GOLF. The following is the draw for the medal round to be played by members ol the Pahiatua Ladies’ Golf Club on Tuesday next; —Mrs Juddand Miss G. Bisset, Mbs Dick and Mrs Donald, Mrs Rawson and Miss Boyd, Miss Braggins and Miss Raleigh. Mrs Harvey and Airs K. Fglinlon, Mrs Morgan, Mrs Crowe and Mrs S’ddeUs, C grade: Miss J. Bisset and M ; es Smyth. Miss E. Taylor and Miss Tirinev. Miss McSherrv and Miss M. Taylor, Mrs Mills and Miss Morrie, Mrs Watson, Mrs Gardner and Mrs Gray. RACING CLUB. At a meeting of the stewards of fhe Pahiatua Racing Club recently. Mr R. J. Smith presided. It was decided to apply for Friday and Saturday, Decemebr 13 and 14. 1940. ns dates for the club s 1941 meeting. Failing these dates. Saturday and Monday, January 25 and 27 1941, arc to be applied for. Messrs C. Connell, A. Bentley, E. 11. Lett, 11. R. AVhitta and T. Devanc were appointed ns a grounds ■committee. A vote of thanks was passed to Air K, A. Irvine for bis efforts in obtaining a trophy for the 1939 meeting. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mr A. McCormac for bis donation of a gold-mounted whin. It was decided that any profits from the annual ball be donated to the Mayor’s Recruits’ Presentation . Fund.
