FOXTON.
- (From Our Own Correspondent.) FOX'l OX, May 1. The Foxton Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held a cycle race to Ileatherlen corner and back, iho result, being:— D. Ebbett 1, C. Calder 2, R. Doreen 3. When returning from Palmerston North to Foxfon in a light delivery van last night Mr 13. J. Walls had a narrow escape from serious injury. The vehicle left the road on the tiimatangi highway as the result of a skid and overturned, doing considerable damage to the bodywork. Mr Walls escaped with a shaking. Miss M. Altree, of Duncan Street, is at present suffering from a fracture of hei arm, sustained in a fall.
The funeral of Mrs M. A. Woodham took place yesterday afternoon and was largely attended. The casket was covered with many beautiful wreaths. Services at the house and graveside were conducted by Rev. E. F. Bush, The pall-bearers were Messrs G. and R. Cull, G. Coley, G. Herd (Wellington), T. Kemp (Wellington) and W. Mitchell (Masterton). At a meeting of the Foxton Tennis Club committee it was decided to make a donation of £2 2s to the Foxton Patriotic Committee.
