AUSTRALIAN COAL STRIKE. CANBERRA, May 1. The Federal Labour leader (Mr J. Curtin) to-day conferred with the coal mine union leaders, who arc returning to Sydney for their meeting to-mor-row. He strongly urged them to induce the miners to return to work, as it was an essential condition of their dispute being taken up by the Arbitration Court. The Prime Minister (Mr R. Q. Menzies) later told the House of Representatives that the Government would wait till to-morrow afternoon for the decision of the miners’ executive before introducing 1 regulations to reopen the coalmines with free labour.
