FAREWELL PARTIES.

MISS I. STUART. Miss Isobel Stuart, of the staff of the Central School, who has received an appointment in Dunedin, is being farewelled with a round of parties in Guiding circles, to which she has rendered invaluable service. The Takaro Guide Company held a parents’ evening, when presentations were made to Miss Stuart. Mrs G. A. Eliott, District Commissioner, attended and was given a musical welcome by the Guides. The Brownie Pack presented a programme of action songs and the Guide company contributed folk dancing, and there were competitions and games. The opportunity was taken by Mrs J. H. Whyte to present Miss Stuart with a travelling rug as a mark of ' appreciation from the Palmerston North executive for her fine work, Mrs Eliott adding her tribute. On behalf of the Guides, Company-Leader Bernice Packer presented Miss Stuart with a framed photograph of the company and Brownie Sixer Jocelyn Clark asked her acceptance of a photograph of the pack. On behalf of the company committee, Mrs J. L. C. Merton presented Miss Stuart with a writing case. Miss Stuart returned thanks and said she hoped to continue her associations with Guiding through the Rangers in Dunedin. Her fellow Guiders farewelled Miss Stuart at a fancy dress party, held at the home of Airs Eliott. Everyone was required to come as the pensonality she would like to be, the costumes costing not more than one shilling. Miss Margaret Poole, as a cowboy, won the prize. There were games and competitions and Air Eliott showed moving films of a recent holiday tour of the South Island, the Centennial Exhibition, and other places of interest. The Guiders’ presentation to Aliss Stuart was the Queen’s Red Cross book.
