WEDDING.
HAYES-SIXTUS. On March 23, (Easter Saturday), a very pretty wedding was solemnised- -at the Methodist - Church, Foilding, by Rev, J. Ashworth, of Apiti between . Ellen Ruby Sixtus, second daughter of Mr and Mrs L. W. Sixtus, of Umutoi, and Dixon John Hayes, third son of the late Mr and Mrs John Hayes, of Palmerston North. The wedding music was played by Mr 11. Crump (organist). / The bride, who was given away by hoi' grandfather, Mr J. F. Pawson, of Fcilding. wore a classical white satin trained gown with sleeves buttoned down to a peak on the wrist, a cowl neckline and quilting across the front and buttoned down the back. A beautiful embroidered blush pink tulle veil, worn with a halo of orange blossoms (lent by a friend), white shoes, and a beautiful white shower bouquet of clematis flowers, cactus dahlias roses, and gladioli with maidenhair fern and tied with white satin ribbon, completed a charmiug toilette. The bridesmaids were Miss Daisy Sixtus (chief) and Miss Joy Forbes. Both wore Marina blue taffetas, the former with puff sleeves, cowl neck smocked across the front, the skirt being quilted and studded with brilliants; the latter maid's frock had a V neckline, puff sleeves and net insets They both wore silver halos with pink roses, clbow-longth gloves and a string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, Their bouquets were of salmon pink with satin streamers. Also in attendance as flower girls were two little nieces of the bridegroom,- Gladys Jensen and Mavis Rico, frocked alike in salmon georgette, with haloes of pink primroses in their hair, and 'Carried- dainty baskets of pink flowers tied with pink satin ribbon, t ■ The bridegroom wae al tended by Mr L. Pawson. uncle of the bride, and her brother, Mr L. Sixtus, as groomsman. As the bride left the church she was presented with a silver horseshoe by little Heather Rice. The . reception was held at tho residence of tho bride’s grandparents, Mr and Mrs J. F. Pawson, where the numerous and useful wedding presents were on view. The guests were received by Mr and Mrs L. W. Sixtus, the latter attired in a smart navy costume and hat, with which was worn a mauve georgette blouse. Ilor bouquet was in shades of purple and mauve, with purple streamers. Assisting her was Mrs J. F. Pawson, frocked in floral, with a black coat and hat and carrying an old gold bouquet tied with- gold ribbon. Mrs Rice, sister of the bridegroom, wore a green dros;., hat and shoos, her bouquet being bronze-red with ribbon to tone. About 50 guests sat down to the wedding breakfast. The tables were decorated with vases of pink and mauve sweet peas, and in the place of honour was a handsome two-tiered wedding cake, iced and decorated in cream, and surmounted with a silver vase of pink nerines. Tho usual toasts were honoured, Mr Ashworth being toastmaster. Later, the bride appeared in her going-away costume of navy blue, with a white lace blouse, navy hat, coat and .handbag. All the bouquets were made by Mrs W. Maddcrn, of Opotiki, great-aunt of the bride.
