EXPERIENCE ON TRAMS.
Per Press Association. AUCKLAND. April 30. Thousands of Aucklanders were late for work to-day. Oil- the trams it seemed to be all stopping and starting, with little speed between the stops. Then the travellers realised they were the innocent victims ;of the flispute between the tramway employees and the Transport Board over wages claims. The motormen and conductors claim they are working in accordance with "safety first” regulations, the conductors making sure the back platforms are clear before moving away from the safety zones. The tramwaymen contend that if certain regulations designed for the safety of the public are strictly adhered to it is impossible for - the tramway service to work smoothly to schedule. Many passengers loft the trams before reaching the city, and reached their destinations well ahead of their trams.
