GAULS’ “MAGINOT LINE.”
WORKS 2000 YEARS OLD. LONDON, April 10. AVlien the Maginot Line was being dug a similar fortification 2000 years old was found. The Gauls built it to keep out the ITuns. Lord Lloyd mentioned this- at a meeting of the Anglo-French Ambulance Corps at tho Mansion House, London. Ho said he was told of the discovery by the general who guided iiini round when ho visited the Maginot Line a few years ago. “Walls,” Lord Lloyd added,, “have two effects. They may ( keep barbarians out for civilisation, but'they also prevented civilisation from entering Germany 1”
