INCREASE IN PERMITS. FIGURES FOR MONTH. There is an increase in tlie number of building permits issued for April this year by the Palmerston North City Council’s building inspector, compared with the number for the corresponding month last year. Thirtyfour permits have been issued as against 23, atid the value for April this year is £12,731. The permits for April last year were valued at £58,105, but this sum included the Intermediate School building, now under construction, which was assessed at £45,590. This left £12,518 for other buildings, so that the total value of construction other than public buildings this year also shows a slight increase by comparison. Details of the permits issued this month are as follow: Nine for dwellings, including one two-unit tenement, £10.718; 14 alterations and additions to dwellings, £1687; 10 other buildings, £276; one alteration and addition to business premises, £SO.
