PALMERSTON NORTH BRANCH. SATISFACTORY POSITION. . The first annual meeting of the Pal" merston' ; 'North branch of the tional Party .to be held in the new club rooms. took place last evening, when the chairman (Air H. G. Alijb) who presided, referred to this factarid said it was a proud occasion. The launching of the club was particularly referred to in the filth, annual report, and it was said that the club was providing an excellent centre for a community of interest. Eleven meetings of, the committee had been held and work was proceeding harmoniously, the position of the branch being most satisfactory, as the incoming committee would find The work of the women’s committee was highly praised by the chairman, who said that no better record would bo found in any other branch. He conveyed the thanks of the executive to the members of the committee, particularly for their efforts for the club. The work of the secretary and of the organiser was also praised, and thanks to them were expressed by acclamation. Matters dealt with at the .divisional conference at AVellington, which the chairman had attended as a delegate, were briefly outlined by him and in conclusion Air Mills said that he felt sure the party was moving on to success. He appealed for the enthusiastic support of members. A gratifying report, showing that the club had been supported from income, was presented by Air H. Seifert, chairman of the club committee. He emphasised that • the amount of work which the party would perform in fostering the na-. tional spirit would depend on the efforts of individual members. Plans for social gatherings, discussion groups and other activities were outlined and appreciation expressed of the part played by the,women’s committee, particular mention being made of the efforts of Aliss C. AVarbu rton. The following were elected to the committee for the ensuing year Messrs F. L. Cubitt, D. Fraser, li. G. Mills, H. A. Seifert. G. Burns, C. G. Hayward, J. M. Gordon. J. A. Nash, M. H. Oram, S. C. Rnwcliffe, L. G. Rieger, T. B. Worrall, H. L. Hartog, G. W. Alills, F. G. Opie, J. E. Blade. 0. Driver, W A Kyle. Alesdnmes L. Bale and C. G. Hayward. There were several other names suggested subject to agreement, and' in addition the representative from the Indies’ committee is Airs AY. I • Field and the co-opted members Aliss 0. AA'arburton and Airs J. H. Whyte.
The incoming committee was instructed to investigate the question ot reappointing an organiser. Air E. B. Jennings was re-elected auditor. Air Cubitt, a eo-delegnte at the rerent divisional conference, gave some further details of the hus'ness and expressed pleasure that Mr Mills had been elected to the executive. Recommendations were made ior the development of a junior ' branch, it being hoped to enlist the seivices of Air AVorrall at a later date A general discussion on party affairs concluded the meeting. , - Air Alills was unanimously re-elect-ed chairman at ri I ' subsequent meeting of the committee. :
