TRADE NEGOTIATIONS.

Received April 30, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, April 28. Anglo-Italian trade negotiations are now being resumed after the breakdown caused by the seizure of Italian coal ships by Britain in March last. Signor Bastianini (Italian Ambassador in London) visited the Foreign Secretary (Lord Halifax) and discussed the matter of the resumption of the talks, while it is probable a British Treasury official will visit Rome in the near future for the same purpose. According to a later British Official Wireless message a very friendly discussion took place. It is impossible to divorce the question of contraband from any wartime discussions dealing with trade between belligerent and non-belligerent countries, but Britain is anxious to -moot any point of difficulty which Italy can reasonably bring to her notice.
