PERSONAL. PAHIATUA, April 29. Misses J. Henry ami M Mabov, and Messrs D. Bicknell ami A. Pulton are visiting Wellington. Mr anti Mrs E. Dock!, of Tirnumca Road, have returned from a brief holiday in Wellington. At the residence of Mr Eric Mextcd. Mangatainoka, on Saturday evening, Messv? If. Koltie and S. G. Olsen, who have enlisted for overseas service, were given a farewell. Mr J. Richardson asked each of the guests of honour to accept a fountain pen, on behalf of friends in the district. REFEREES’ ASSOCIATION. At the annual meeting of the Bush Rugby Referees’ Association, Mr 11. Rogers presided. Officers elected are:—Patron, Mr B. Harvey; president, Mr 11. ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY. At: the annual mooting of the I’aliiatua subcommittee of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society the committee’s report for the 1939-40 season stated that fishing had been good in all streams at seme time or other during the season. Boys had accounted for a great number cf eels, the heaviest weighing 231 b. Although very few pheasants were liberated during the year, quite a. number were to he seen in various parts of the district. Quail seem to ho getting very scarce. Ducks soctn to lie just about, holding their own. The officers elected are: President, Mr A. J. Morgan;' committee, Messrs R. 11. Taylor, J. Sargent, J. Mel Corrnaek. E. W. Eddie, F. F.. The secretary was instructed to inquire if there wore any pheasants for liberation in this district. If was agreed to simply Mr Tlillas with seme rainbow fingorlings for his stream. BOWLING. In Hie senior-junior pairs competition at the Pahiatna Bowling Club. Geer and Cosford beat Smith and Macrae.
