Afassage . with methylated spirit will harden the skin and help your icct carry you happily. Coats and Hats. It gives you *a cosy feeling just to look at the rows oi snug winter coats at Slater’s, the Square. There are tweeds, wool boucles and English worsteds, many trimmed with real or realistic fur, all beautifully cut whatever the size. I like the new toppers, with comfortably fitting crowns and piquant bustle bows to go with these winter coats. * Interviewed Mussolini. Airs AVill Stuart, of London, whose husband is now the Chief Justice of Tonga, lias been visiting Auckland. While in Italy she attended a conference in Rome, and was the appointed delegate for South Africa. She was chosen as the member to interview Signor Mussolini. Youthful Experiments. A debutante, making her first tentative experiments with make-up, should not be left to flounder alone. She needs to be taught to preserve the delicate bloom of a young skin by proper care with good quality products blended correctly for her colouring. Sylvia Kirk, the Broadway beauty expert, can give invaluable advice on this important subject. ’ Old Newspapers. Old newspapers in Alanchukuo make admirable wallpaper, and in that climate act as a good insulator against the cold. Hong Kong, importing 44 million pounds from the United States, finds the papers useful for lining packing cases. Tropic helmets are also made from them, decorative lanterns, toys, boxes, and cardboard containers also. Home Comforts. Spend comfortable evenings beside the fire throughout the winter by giving yourself the luxury of a wellsprung seat at a very low cost, and adding graceful furniture, sturdily built, to your home. Hutchins’ Furniture AVarehouse, 493 Alain Street, have handsome fireside chairs, covered in Genoa velvet priced from only 29s Gd. First Aid Students. Here is an easy way to roll bandages, if you are practising at homo and do not have a rolling machine. Take a straight-hacked chair and pass one end of the bandage under the back crossbar and then over the top bar. Now, standing behind the chair, roll the material up, while somebody stands opposite to hold it taut and feed it to you. In this way you can make a neat roll and eliminate all creases. Attractive Colours. AVinter nightwear is now obtainable in all the dainty colours we usually associate with spring. 1 have just seen the snuggest interlock nighties, beautifully cut in small women’s, women’s and outsizes, in delicate tones of green, maize, peach and pink. They are most reasonably priced at the Scotch AYool and Hosiery Shop, the Square. *
