POH ANGINA VALLEY.
(From Our Own Corrcsoondcnt.) POHANGINA. April 29. At the inoctingii of householders held at the various schools in the Valley, the following committees were elected: Pollan: gina: Alcssrs A. Balmer (chairman), J. T. Aloar (secretary and treasurer), G. 11. Passey, E. A. Hockley and F. Biddlecombo. Raumai: Messrs 15. B. Bockett (ehuirmau), E. Loamy (secretary and treasurer), J. McDonald, S. Hanlon and J. A. Rowbothani. Awahou North: Meter? E. C. Spehuan (chairman), 11. B. Claphani (secretary and treasurer), W. Adams, F. Burnell and J. R. Bask. At the annual meeting of the Pohangina Valley branch of the Farmers’ Union, Air J. T. Aloar presided over a good attendance. in his report, Air Aloar said that it had been necessary to reduce the number of meetings owing i:o petrol restriction?. Ilowover, keen intercut continued to bo taken in all matters alfeeting the industry. During the winter a number of instructive lectures had been given by officers of the Department of Agriculture, the branch combining with the Young Farmers’ Club in stimulating interest. It was hoped to arrange for a 'number of lectures during the coining winter. A bobby calf pool had been formed in the A 7 alley. The union had. been behind the movement, and tljc results had been highly satisfactory. Speaking of the war, Air Aloar said that the German invasion of Denmark had made the Mother Country more than ever dependent on the Dominions for maximum endeavour on the part of all farmers. He paid a tribute to the secretary (Air T. J. Spclman), who had given sterling service. The following were elected: President, Air Aloar, vice presidents, Messrs B. B. Bockett and H. B. Claphani: secretary, Air T. J. Spclman; delegates to executive, Alcssrs J. T. Aloar and 1. J, Spclman.
